Working on a holistic protocol for a client medically diagnosed with gastroparesis, who has found no relief (and worsening of symptoms) from antibiotics and gastrointestinal motility enhancers from her GP. Her doctors claim her condition is idiopathic, but this condition often results from vagus nerve damage. The vagus nerve runs from the brain stem to the gut and when it paralyzes or loses its tone, the stomach does not digest and move food to the small intestine, which causes a host of issues and discomfort due to a lack of gastric emptying.

Acupuncture and The Vagus Nerve — Morningside Acupuncture

Without blood sugar issues (which she doesn’t have) and no surgery or injury, this condition is most likely resulting from adrenal dysfunction and nervous system problems, including mental/emotional stress/trauma. Along with nutritional, herbal and targeted supplementation, we will also have her work on resetting/stimulating her vagus nerve several times a day with this piezo pen (pictured below), which delivers a small, natural “shock” through the crystal with a closed circuit using both hands on targeted points in the body which include behind each ear, the three points around the belly button, the top of the head, forehead and between the eyes. By the way, this is great for anyone to do, as it improves the gut-brain axis, helps with breathing, circulation, anxiety, depression, brain fog, and general energy levels and digestion! Looking forward to getting this lady some relief!
