Naturopaths evaluate and recommend very differently than conventional medical doctors. Naturopaths strive to promote the body’s natural healing abilities to achieve optimal health and balance while relieving the body of signs and symptoms of distress and dysfunction.
“Restoration of Health” is the goal of Naturopathic Medicine. The basic assumptions of the naturopathic model are as follows:
- The universe is ordered, intelligent, wise, and benign
- Health is constant and is a natural state of being
- Ill health is an adaptive response to the disturbance of an organism
- Removal of disturbing factors will result in the potential return of improved health
- Intervention should involve the least force necessary to stimulate the self-healing mechanisms
Naturopaths encourage the body’s intrinsic, natural healing capabilities and support weaknesses. Modalities and recommended plans and protocols will work to constantly support the weakened systems/organs to become stronger.
